The stunting rate in Kebumen Regency has again dropped below 10%
based on the results of a survey by the Ministry of Health of the
Republic of Indonesia. For this achievement, the Kebumen Regency
Government received fiscal incentives from the central government
of IDR 5.6 billion.

Kebumen Deputy Regent Ristawati Purwaningsih said that the
stunting rate continues to decline from year to year. In 2020,
stunting in Kebumen was at 15.34%. Then it dropped to 12.14% in
2021, and dropped again to 10.23% in 2022. Currently, as of July
2024, it is at 9.88%.

According to her, the decline is the result of the hard work of
the Kebumen Regency Government together with all stakeholders, and
is proof of the seriousness of the Stunting Reduction Acceleration
Team (TPPS) together with related parties.

"Alhamdulillah, what we should be grateful for is that our
stunting rate has dropped below 10%. Where at the beginning of his
term in 2021, our stunting was very high, reaching 15%. "We must
continue to push this so that the results are better," said Rista
in her statement, Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Rista said that in handling stunting there are several phases
that are carried out. Namely the pregnant mother phase and the
postpartum phase, which are mainly for babies aged 0-24 months.

"We are pursuing these two phases, because these phases are the
highest determinants of stunting. The cause of high stunting is in
these phases," she said.

She said that the need for intervention is one of them through
education, education, and promotion programs that cover both growth
phases. While other interventions focus on each phase of life that
has the highest determinants of stunting.

In the third group, namely when the baby is born. intervention
will focus on babies aged 0-24 months. According to her, because
babies of that age are the determinants. The program is
immunization, exclusive breastfeeding, and if symptomatic, animal
protein is given.

Rista also ensures that newborn babies receive exclusive
breastfeeding for 6 months. And the third program, babies who are
identified as at risk of stunting should be prevented immediately
by giving animal protein.

Meanwhile, if they are already stunted, they must be sent to the
hospital and treated by a pediatrician. "We also support the
community by providing additional food for toddlers with sufficient
and balanced nutrition," he said. https://pafikebumenkab.org
